President's Award Given to BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport

The highest internal award given by the Federal Association is the President’s Award, presented to those who have made significant contributions and efforts in support of the work and charism of the association. The award has been given to both individuals and groups, recognizing them in a special and momentous way.

On November 15, the Federal Association presented the 2023 President’s Awards to the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport in recognition and appreciation of their efforts over the past many years to make the Lourdes pilgrimage a success. Due to the unique nature of the pilgrimage—taking malades and their companions, support teams of doctors, nurses, religious, and volunteers to the waters of Lourdes—airline and airport logistics can prove extremely challenging. The team at the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport has consistently exceeded the Federal Association’s every need and has become a true member of the annual Lourdes pilgrimage.

In consideration of their courtesy, professionalism, and performance, Clair McCormick, KM, Pilgrimage brancardier, and Deacon Michael Stankewicz, executive director of the Federal Association and Iren Aloyan, Lourdes Coordinator presented the 2023 President’s Awards on behalf of Fra’ Thomas Mulligan, president emeritus, in the following categories:

  • Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport
  • Menzies Aviation - Ground Services - BWI Airport
  • Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Safety Administration - BWI Airport
  • John Coates - Prosegur Security - BWI Airport

The presentation was attended by numerous people at BWI. It was a celebratory event, and everyone expressed gracious thanks for their award. And, that they look forward to working with the Federal Association on the 2024 pilgrimage.
