Malteser International Americas

Malteser International Americas is the humanitarian relief agency of the Order of Malta in the Western Hemisphere and an affiliate of Malteser International. Through their competent and devoted staff, and with the support of 27 National Member Associations and Priories of the Order of Malta around the world, they carry on what the Order was established for more than 900 years ago – to care for the sick and the poor. 

The Order’s relief arm is a global humanitarian organization with over 65 years of experience in providing care for the world’s most vulnerable people affected by poverty, disease, conflict, and disaster. It runs 125 projects in more than 30 countries annually and remains committed to delivering aid and helping people live in health and dignity.  

Malteser International Americas has consistently risen to the challenge, from building aqueducts and introducing new farming programs for poor communities in Haiti, to providing primary health services to thousands of Venezuelan refugees and migrants in Colombia; to making sure the elderly, sick and vulnerable have food and water after Hurricanes Katrina, Harvey, Irma, Maria and Dorian, and during pandemics such as COVID-19.  

Its work is primarily focused in North, Central and South America, but like a family, it supports the global relief efforts of the Order of Malta through Malteser International, such as the refugee crisis in the Middle East, famine in Africa, and natural disasters in Asia.  

Located next to the Order of Malta American Association in the Archdiocese of New York, the organization’s life-saving relief and development work, allows Knights and Dames of the Order to support the Order’s mission of caring for the sick and the poor, and helping serve the needs of more than two million people around the world annually.
