Bishop Curlin Celebrates 60th Jubilee
Bishop William G. Curlin celebrated Mass in honor of the 60th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood on May 20 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Charlotte, N.C.
The Mass, arranged by the Order of Malta, and the parish pastor, Rev. Mark Lawlor, was attended by 75 members of the Order, former Lourdes malades, and friends of Bishop Curlin.
At a luncheon reception afterward, the Order presented him with letters from the Vatican, cardinals, and bishops from around the U.S., as well as a photo album with images from his service to the Church over the course of six decades.
Bishop Curlin, approaching the age of 90, continues his service with weekly visits to Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity as well as the seriously ill of Charlotte.
Another parish in the region, Holy Angels of Belmont, also announced that a medical facility on its campus will be named for Bishop Curlin in recognition of his untiring service to the people it serves—children and adults with developmental disabilities and delicate medical conditions. This facility will be named the “Bishop Curlin Clinic”.
Bishop Curlin refers to the Knights and Dames as “his family” and continues to provide spiritual guidance to our works of mercy.
