Annual BBQ Benefits Wounded Warriors

Thank you to all of our volunteers who made the Order of Malta Annual Walter Reed BBQ a success. As in years past we had a fabulous turnout, serving 550 guests composed of Wounded Warriors, patients seeking treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, their families and medical staff. Meals were also taken to the medical wards for those patients unable to come to the Warrior Café in Bethesda, MD.

Our 60 volunteers from the Order cooked and served steak, barbecued chicken, a variety of salads, baked potatoes, beverages and an array of desserts provided our partners the Johanniter, Georgetown Cupcakes, and the Ritz Carleton Georgetown pastry chef. The Musicians on Call provided fantastic entertainment, and the arts and craft table run by Kathie Russo offered fun for all ages. 

The Warrior Café was filled with beautiful flowers donated by Behnke Nurseries. Our tireless grill team, under the able leadership of Walter Sechriest, labored seven hours in the sun to make sure that all of the food was grilled to perfection. Thanks to all the servers and serving line leaders, the decorations committee, those who donated salads, and the Auxiliary under the leadership of Elizabeth Demaree, KM, who made this event happen for the ninth year.
