Atlanta Region Hosts 2017 “Life is Beautiful” Gala

In February the Atlanta region put on its annual “Life is Beautiful” gala to benefit the local Pregnancy Aid Clinic. The clinic now boasts three locations serving the metro Atlanta area in Hapeville, Roswell, and a mobile unit that can be found in multiple Atlanta locations, all providing lifesaving and life-changing services. The 29-foot traveling ultrasound unit, which was made possible through funds raised at these Malta galas, was on display at this year’s gala and available for tours.

Atlanta region hospitaller Lynn Mullaney offered opening remarks at the event, followed by a blessing before dinner from Georgia Tech Chaplain Rev. Josh Allen. In addition, Msgr. Edward J. Dillon, a chaplain of the Order who could not be present, sent a warm welcome message via video.

After dinner, the approximately 160 guests turned their attention to a specially prepared video by the production company Elevation, featuring testimonials from staff, religious leaders, and most importantly, young women who had made the decision to choose life. Guests participated in a wine and spirits raffle, as well as a variety of price point opportunities to offer support to the clinic. Students from Holy Spirit Preparatory School’s Pro-Life Club and House Leadership were available to process donations throughout the fun-filled evening.

A record attendance for the evening resulted in another successful “Life is Beautiful” gala. Approximately $500,000 has been raised by the Atlanta region over the past seven years in support of the clinic. The Order of Malta is honored and humbled to fulfill their mission as Knights and Dames “to care for the sick and poor and defend the faith” through this signature event. Anyone wishing to receive further information about the Pregnancy Aid Clinic, or make a donation, may refer to their website at http://www.pregnancyaidclinic.org.

Kimberly Hanna and Mary Savarese served as co-chairs for this year’s gala, joined by committee members Angie Lewis, Jackie Bohling, Diane Festa, Gigi Meyers, Terri Hartman, Sally Hanna, Marilyn Allegra, Susan Jannetta, Todd Gangell, Neil Johnson, Marie Corrigan, master of ceremonies Butch Elmgren, auxiliary, and hospitaller Lynn Mullaney. Generous friends also took part to support the mission of the clinic and provide the opportunity for women to choose life for their unborn children.  Representing the Pregnancy Aid Clinic were special guests Executive Director Marla Brown, President Julie Ostrowski, and Director of Development Diane Duquette.
