Annual Anointing Mass Celebrated in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Region hosted its signature service project, the Annual Anointing Mass on February 10. Chair, Dr. Jeff Edwards, KM, made all arrangements with the help of other knights and dames who transported the sick elderly from Catholic housing in the Diocese of St. Augustine.

The Rev. Remek Blaszkowski, JCD, pastor of the beautiful new San Jose Catholic Church, was the main celebrant and was joined by seven other priests in anointing hundreds of Catholics of all ages who attended, asking for the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes during the Mass. Father Remek's homily focused on the many aspects of healing, with inspirational stories.

A choir from Jacksonville University provided the music along with San Jose's own musicians. Jacksonville University Choir has performed worldwide and at the Vatican as well as last year by invitation at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York.

This was the 9th Annual Anointing Mass presented by our region and is looked forward to by Catholics who come from all over North Florida to attend.
