Northern Virginia Recommits at St. John the Baptist Feast Day Mass
The Northern Virginia region observed the feast of our patron, St. John the Baptist, in a Mass on June 23 celebrated by Rev. Alexander Drummond, magisteral chaplain of the Order and pastor of St. Catherine of Siena in Great Falls, Virginia.
Members and candidates joined in Mass during which a Recommitment Ceremony was included for all members of the Order to renew their investiture commitment. In accordance with custom and as appropriate for a lay religious order, a lay member, Rob Lively, KMOb, led the ceremony as Principal. The ceremony consisted of a request to the Order Chaplain for a blessing of all members, and leading the renewal commitment. With wisdom, righteousness and strength, members renewed their "sacred commitment to our Lord God and to his Son, to his holy Church, to our venerable and holy Order: to follow the banner of Christ, and of the Order, to witness and defend the Catholic Faith, and to do works of charity, as the Order requires.” The Hospitaller lead the Daily Prayer of the Order.
Members of the Cuban Association, Jason Poblete, KM, and Yleem Poblete, DM, who have participated with the Northern Virginia Region for the past two years, also joined the celebration. Fellowship followed with a dinner hosted and prepared by Fr. Drummond.
