Lenten Evening of Reflection
On March 26, the Washington, DC and Montgomery County regions held their annual Lenten Evening of Reflection at Annunciation parish in Washington. The evening began with liturgy celebrated by our chaplain, the Rev. Richard Mullins. About 40 members and candidates then gathered for a simple supper followed by Father Mullins’s talk, “Do not be gloomy like the hypocrites.” Father Mullins mentioned the importance of forgiveness, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and humor in our Lenten journey. Several of his spiritual nuggets were delivered with side-splitting hilarity. He also recommended several books such as “Balaam’s Donkey” by Michael Casey OCSO and “Rediscovering Lent” by Matthew Kelly.
