Members of the Charlotte region spent a beautiful afternoon with residents of Holy Angels, a home for the developmentally disabled, on April 25th.

Led by Bishop Emeritus William Curlin and Benedictine Abbot Placid Solari, several Knights, Dames, and candidates toured the facility and were greeted with smiles of joy by the residents as they traveled from room to room.  Bishop Curlin and Abbot Placid blessed the residents, while Members offered care, conversation, and human touch.

Holy Angels, located in Belmont, NC, provides round-the-clock care for more than 80 children and adults with developmental disabilities and other delicate medical conditions.  Over 50 others are served through Holy Angels outreach program.

“Holy Angels is a special place, and it is always a joy to spend time with Holy Angels residents and staff," said Charlotte hospitaller Joe Tronco.  "Our Knights and Dames who work with Holy Angels are unanimous:  We get back so much more than we give."

The Order is a longtime supporter of Holy Angels and recently provided a $25,000 grant to upgrade resident bathrooms. The upgrades are a critical need due to the intense daily care requirements of many residents. During their visit Members saw first-hand the first bathroom upgraded through the grant, and how it will provide for the safety and well-being of both residents and caregivers for years to come.  In coming months two more bathrooms will be upgraded with remaining funds.
