Help for Hôpital Sacre Coeur
A team with a gynecologic surgeon and anesthesiologist is needed to help at the Hôpital Sacre Coeur in Milot, Haiti during the week of May 13th. Malta member Joe Giere is gathering the team. Anyone interested should contact him at joemarygee@aol.com.
There are three new operating rooms in the hospital, where many of our members have volunteered in the past to support the Malta mission to care for the poor and the sick. There are new initiatives to screen women for cervical cancer as well. Women in Haiti have the highest death rate in the world for this preventable and curable disease.
The website, www.crudem.org has an interesting video tour of the hospital and a virtual tour of the town of Milot. The place is a victim of its own success. It actually works and does accomplish our Malta goals of caring for the sick and the poor.
