In November, members of the Columbus Region participated in the Solemn Vespers and Blessing of the Creche at Saint Joseph Cathedral in downtown Columbus, Ohio.
For decades, State Auto Insurance displayed a historic, life-sized Nativity, called Christmas Corner, at their downtown campus. Initially a display of evergreens and lights, it was started in 1931 by State Auto's founder Bob Pein, who described it as his way of giving back to the community. In 1962, the life-sized Nativity display was added. This year, it was donated by State Auto to the Diocese of Columbus’s Museum of Catholic Art and History and was moved to the lawn of St. Joseph Cathedral at East Broad and South Fifth streets. Vespers and the blessing were celebrated by Bishop Earl K. Fernandes of the Diocese of Columbus, who is a conventual chaplain ad honorem of the Order of Malta.
